EUROPEAN FAN MEETINGS - AUGUST 2000
Mette 8/6/00- I have just returned from beautiful Paris after three magnificent days in the great company of Depp fans from five different countries. :-) And let me begin by saying that I want to do this again SOON! Time just flew by and now I'm about ready to pass out on my bed (partly because of a very hot Sunday in Paris and extensive walking, and because I had to perform a 400 meter run through the Charles de Gaulle airport to catch my flight;-)). Anyway, I want to thank Vicki (and Carl), Mitch, Irene, Petra, Corinne, Isa, Karelle, Marie & Claire for making this a fantastic adventure:-))) You are all wonderful, sweet and funny people and I can't wait to meet you again. As Karelle reported further down on the board, we all got together Friday night for dinner, and I am just amazed that ten people managed to come together like this. Saturday we scouted movie memorabilia stores, and I think it's safe to say that Paris is more or less out of Johnny Depp movie stills, press kits etc. LOL After that we went location hunting and found the bridge on the Seine where Johnny was stalked and attacked in The Ninth Gate. I know it's just a bridge and some stairs, but I was very excited to see the actual spot ( my first Johnny location :-)). Quite a lot of photos were taken right there:-) Saturday evening Vicki, Carl, Mitch, Irene, Petra and I dined at the Man Ray. To me it was one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been in, and the food was delicious. There was a very special atmosphere with some very beautiful and exotic music playing and incense burning. After dinner we walked by the Plaza Hotel where some scenes in The Ninth Gate were shot - this was the hotel where Liana Telfer ( Lena Olin ) stayed. Today we met up in Montmartre, but because of transportation delays, we didn't have time to go look for the taxidermist shop:-) We had lunch by the Eiffel Tower, and this is where I left the Convention to go home, so someone else will have to finish the report while I go get some sleep:-) THANK YOU ALL! I had a wonderful time!
Marjolein - Yesterday (8/11/00), it was a great day for Depp-fans! We had a meeting, and, the one and only Vicki was there too!!!!! It was a meeting of 7, Vicky and husband, Mitch, Monica, Antoinette, Barbara and myself (Marjolein). We met at Central Station in Amsterdam at 19.30. We had to wait a little for Monica, who couldn't be there that early. I was a bit nervous, I must say, you know to meet the people you see always on the board, and of course Vicki, who turned out to be the sweetest person!!!! She is a real sweetheart, and very nice to talk to!  The main talk was of course Johnny Depp, ha ha We spend the first 1 1/2 hours looking for a nice restaurant, to eat something, yes 1 and a half hours, maybe more. It's really hard to find a place on a friday night in Amsterdam in the centre. Well there hundreds of places, but they were all full, or you had to wait there for like 1 hour for your food to arrive. But it was ok, because we were talking and having so much fun, so.... and a little more sightseeing is always fun. We talked until 11 and then Antoinette had to say goodbye, to catch her bus home, the rest stayed for 1 hour more. Then there were big hugs and kisses, and we, sadly, said goodbye to each other. Vicki, thank you for this special meeting, I will never forget it!!! I hope we will meet again, maybe, hopefully in America! Mitch, Monica, Barbara and Antoinette, thank you too, for this special meeting!!!! I hope we will soon meet again!! Well that was my short story of this big moment!!
